Brickworld Saga Presents
Building the Ultimate Falcon

The Ultimate Falcon is the biggest LEGO set to date. It's nearly 5000 pieces, nearly a yard long when completed, and costs about 500 bucks. Only a true LEGO Master would buy this thing, and only a true LEGO Master could build it in less than, say, a month.

Day 4:
'A Ship Takes Shape'

I went to walmart and bought a nice frame for the Certificate of Authenticity.

Anyway, this is where we just were.

It took me a while, but I managed to construct the seven feet.

They go on the bottom... I broke the Falcon about three times just laying it upside down.

I broke it some more just trying to put the feet on...

Then I broke it again flipping it back over. But now it has some good sturdy feet to rest on.

Tonight's special guest: Coke McBottleson! The Falcon only used six of the feet... where is this seventh one supposed to go?

Time for part five.

Hmm. Looks like some kind of roof piece.

Oh, it goes on the bottom. 'kay.

Oh! The foot goes through the hole in that piece. Gotcha'.

Part 6 looks like this. I stared at the instructions for a few seconds thinking "wtf?" before realizing that this is that glowing engine thingie in the back.

The middle of the engine segment looks like this. A keen-eyed LEGOist will notice a flaw in its design.

The pieces on the edge here are only halfway attached to the rest of the segment. They're only held on by a single row of studs. One familiar with building with LEGO pieces should know that this is very poor construction.

It... breaks off reather easily...

The same mistake is made in the next segment, except this time it's worse. The piece is still held on by a single row of studs...

...But on top of that, the place it is attached to is, itself, a seperate piece. This is even more fragile than the last segment. I'm beginning to doubt the assumed LEGO mastery of Mr. Jens Kronvold Frederiksen.

Anyway, the entire engine thing is made up of these segments. I am reminded vaguely of a train.

At last, it's starting to look like the Millennium Falcon.

Part 7...

Oh, it's the pointy bit in the front.

These extremely blurry headlights go on the front. Why does a starship need headlights anyway? Keep in mind that the Millennium Falcon is a cargo ship, and it's been modified for smuggling...

Looks more and more like the Millennium Falcon.

Looks like part 8 is the other pointy bit.
