Brickworld Saga Presents
Building the Ultimate Falcon

The Ultimate Falcon is the biggest LEGO set to date. It's nearly 5000 pieces, nearly a yard long when completed, and costs about 500 bucks. Only a true LEGO Master would buy this thing, and only a true LEGO Master could build it in less than, say, a month.

Day 2:
'Disaster Strikes!'

My sister's cat got into the pile and chewed this piece to death.

It's probably still usable in this condition, but what's the point? It's ruined. This is a collector's item. I'm not using this piece in the Falcon.

I searched eBay and BrickLink for a replacement piece, but no luck. It probably would have helped if I knew what to call it... light gray tube thing doesn't really work.

I even checked the LEGO Shop's Pick a Brick service which lets you buy individual pieces. But they didn't have it. In desperation, I check sustomer service.

LEGO replaces parts! Hallelujah!

Turns out they didn't even charge me for the piece. Then again, this is about 2 cents worth of plastic for a $500 set... so I guess charging me would be a little pointless.

Oh, for the love of-!

Turns out the cat had destroyed BOTH of these pieces. This one's not as bad, but it's still unusable.

So I had to go back and order a SECOND piece. Since they're exactly the same, I would not be surprised if LEGO just sent me one of them. But, it's a free service, so I'm not complaining.

The Falcon now looks like this. If anything, I think it looks less like the real Falcon than it did before. Work continues!

Build time today:
Can't tell. I was interrupted by the destroyed piece and forgot to pause the stopwatch.
Estimated completion:
11%
